Sight words-keep, away, ran, can’t, if, on, this, Monday

Nightly homework:  Sight words, word list 13.

Tomorrow is the 100th day. I cannot wait to see your child dress up as if they are 100 years old! We have a fun day planned.

Please practice sight words each night with your child.

We will exchange Valentine’s on the 14th. We have 12 students in our class. If you want to have your child decorate a box to collect their Valentine’s in that would be great! A bag or pre-made box also works.  Also I will be taking care of snacks for that day, so I don’t need anyone to send anything, but if you are crafty and have something that you would like to send, just let me know and we can work it out.

If you did not send back your child’s project for the 100th day, please do so tomorrow. We like to display those for everyone to see. They will be sent back home after the 100th day.

This week’s content:
Reading/Social Studies: Martin Luther King Jr.
       Writing: digraphs and blends
       Math: addition
Phonics: VCCV (vowel, consonant, consonant, vowel)
o   After, number, letter
       Sight words-review all

Nightly homework:  Sight words, word list 11.

The 100th day of school is Tuesday, January 28th (if we do not miss any days before that). You will find two notes in your child’s folder. One is about dressing up on the 100th day like they are 100 years old. The other is about the 100th day project that is due on Tuesday January 21st. Students use 100 items and make them into something. We display them in the hallway and then share on the 100th day.

We are starting addition in math groups. Please review the words for the symbols in addition with your child (+ (plus) = (equal)). We use numbers bonds to show how two parts come together and make the whole number. Any practice students do at home will help them greatly at school.
