Tonight’s homework

Each student is coming home with a zip lock bag tonight. There is a letter on the front of each bag. Your child is asked to find at least 5, no more than 10, small items to fill the bag. The items should begin with the letter sound found on the outside of the bag.

For example, I did a letter bag for /l/, inside the bag where the following small items:

A toy lion
A pretend lemon
A picture of a light bulb
A toy ladder
Library card

If for any reason, you are unable to fill the bag, please let me know and I can help your child do this here at school. We are going to use these bags when we introduce our letters each day. Students will get their small items back after we complete the letter. If it is something they can’t live without you may not want to put in the bag because we only do one letter a day.

Please return your letter bags by Friday (8-17-18)!

Allergy note

Dear Parents,

This year we have students in our Kindergarten class with food allergies. Because of these allergies, we want to make you mindful when sending snacks for birthdays or other occasions.

If you are planning to send something, please let me know one week ahead of time, so I can get alternatives for our students with allergies, or you can send something different for them.
Suggestions of items to send that are safe for all our students:

Fruit snacks
Fruit roll ups

Our goal is to make school a safe place for all of our students. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

Thank you,
Mrs. Janet and Mrs. Fowler

End of the year

End of the year notes:

Monday is our Reading Goal Field Trip. We are going bowling and then heading to Kiwanis Park for lunch and fun! You are welcome to meet us at either or both places if you would like!

Tuesday is field day. We will be outside a lot that day so please apply sunscreen to your child that morning. If your child would like to wear a hat, that might be a good idea also to keep the sun off their face (please make sure it is one that stays on their head well).

Wednesday we will have Kindergarten graduation at 9:00. Students will wear gowns (we keep these) over their outfits. They will also have caps and tassels, so we ask that girls wear their hair down.

We have a had a wonderful year and I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to teach your child! Moms enjoy your weekend!
