*Word list one is coming home tonight. This was the first assessment I have given students to see how they do with blending. I will do a recheck on Friday to see if they are able to blend any words they missed. The Sight word ‘the’ is on this list. Students should be able to tell me this word Friday if they missed it today.

*Parent Teacher conferences are scheduled for November 10th from 3:00-6:00. These can be done in person, by phone or online. Please call Mrs. Jill at 270-674-4820 to schedule a time to meet. She will also ask how you would like to meet. Only one adult can attend the conference, if you choose in person, and will be required to wear and mask and have temperature checked upon entering the school.

**Sight words are a very important part of Kindergarten. Please help your child with their new words every night. On Friday when I assess them, it should be very fluent. Students should know them by looking. I recommend make flash card and adding to the list each week. Review all the words with your child using those flash cards. Students can also use the flash cards to build sentences. Please keep the sight word list in your child’s folder all week.

Q and U

Q and U will be married on Friday. We discussed today that words that begin with q are followed by u (quiet, queen, quarter, quail). On Friday at 10:40, Mrs. Janet will be officiating a wedding for the two letters to help us remember they go together. Students are encouraged to dress in wedding attire. Ms. Lear will be teaching us wedding dances during PE. Please remember students will still be running during PE so tennis shoes are needed. Since we are unable to invite parents to attend we plan to share our wedding on Facebook at 10:40. Just go to the school Facebook page ‘Fancy Farm Elementary’ and you should be able to see the live video. If for some reason that does not work, we will record for you to watch and I will post that to my class blog. It should only last 5-10 minutes J

I hope everyone had a wonderful Fall Break. The Students were all excited to share things they did last week.

*This week, we will be reviewing the alphabet and moving into blending words next week. I can tell students worked on letters and sounds over the break and a few even earned their galaxy slime today!

*On Wednesday, students will be bringing home a graphic organizer of an animal they would like to create a habitat for. They do not have to do the animal they chose at school, this was just a way to get them thinking about what animals need to survive. These will be due Oct. 21st. The instructions will be on the Wednesday note.

*Friday report cards will be ready. Please know this is a shorter quarter (27 days). A typical quarter is 40 days, so usually there would be more standards assessed. If you see things on the report card that concern you, please let me know.
