NTI

The Non-Traditional Instruction Program (NTI) is a program that encourages the continuation of academic instruction on days when school would otherwise be cancelled. School districts create plans to deliver instruction to every student in the district and provide for student and teacher interaction on NTI days, with the ultimate goal of continuing instruction.

Our district uses NTI in the event of multiple days of missed school. The paper packets sent home have three days of work in them.  So if the district calls NTI day 1, you would complete the work labeled day 1. Only do the next two days, if more NTI days are called. You will know that it is NTI day if the school website says so. Not all snow days are NTI, it will be called NTI day if that is what we are using.

You may check the school webpage, school facebook page or WPSD for school closures.

If we have three NTI days, I will send more work home to be prepared for more NTI days.

  • Math: place value an identifying numbers to 30
  • Phonics: long vowels (so, no, me, hi)
  • Science: facts about pumpkins

  • Counting goals have been updated on your child’s behavior chart. I have also included any letters or numbers I would like for your child to continue to work on. Please work on these nightly.
  • We started sight words today. The words and sentences are on the back of your child’s behavior chart. They should practice these each night. We will assess them on Friday. Sight words are a very important part of Kindergarten. On Fridays, if you will keep your child’s behavior charts, then you will be able to have all the sight words for the year. I also suggest making note cards of the sight words, to continually review all the words we cover.
  • Word list 1 is coming home tonight. We will do these every Monday. These are CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) words. Practice these nightly and I will reassess on Friday. The word that is circled is a sight word, so please help your child memorize that word. Blending CVC words is something we are going to be focusing on very hard this quarter of school. Any extra time students spend doing this will only help them to become better readers.
  • Book baggies will be sent either Wednesday or Thursday, depending on which days your child reads. There will also be a new reading note to tell about changes to the program. Students will now be doing two books a week, one that they read and the library book that someone reads to them.

  • We will be having fall festival on October 17, there is a flyer in your child’s folder. You should be contacted if you signed up to work.

UPCOMING EVENTS:
  • October 17th- Fall Festival 6:00-7:30
  • October 24th- Parent/teacher conferences (call Mrs. Jill, at 328-4820, to schedule your appointment.
