September 30, 2019
This week’s content:
● Reading: Fall Weather
● Writing: Upper and lowercase letters. Fall book
● Math: Recognizing numbers to 30, greater than, less than and equal to
● Phonics: Ww, Qq
● Science: living and nonliving, habitats, animal/plant needs and adaptations
● Homework: Letters, Counting Goals, number identifications on Behavior Chart and Library Book
Notes:
● Counting goals and letter & number recognition have been updated on your child’s behavior
chart. Please work on these nightly.
● We will keep reading bags until after fall break! Tuesday readers, please return your bag
tomorrow!
● There is an order form for yearbooks in your child’s folder. Yearbooks are $20 and we will
collect orders until Friday . If your child would like to design a cover for the yearbook there is
information about that as well on the order form.
● We will be having fall festival on October 17. If you haven’t sent in a book for our silent auction
basket please do so by Friday.
● Habitats are due Wednesday!
● Thursday at 10:45 we will be having the wedding of Q and U.
This is a cute way for kids to remember that words that begin
with q are followed by u. Students may dress in wedding attire,
we will be learning wedding dances during PE. After the
wedding, guests are invited to eat lunch (this serves as our
reception) with their child.
● Friday we will be going to Murray State to see the Tale of Peter Rabbit.

  • Writing: Practicing our numbers 1-30 with correct number formation, Letters Dd, Vv, Jj, Xx
  • Math: Recognizing numbers to 30, Writing numbers 19-23, Counting and Drawing to 20
  • Phonics: Dd, Vv, Jj, Xx
  • Science: Apple life cycle
  • Homework:  Number Train Paper, Letters, Counting Goals on Behavior Chart and Library Book
Notes: 
·         Students are working on recognizing numbers to 30 and ordering numbers. Please have them complete both the front and back of the number train homework. This should be done in pencil and returned tomorrow.
  • If your child does not return their library book on their assigned day they will not receive a sticker for reading their book.  They will still take their AR comprehension quiz and get a new book when they do return the book.  It is very important that these are being returned on schedule so your child does not get behind.
  • Counting goals and letter & number recognition have been updated on your child’s behavior chart. Please work on these nightly.

  • We will be having fall festival on October 17.  We need volunteers to help work the games, and donations of candy and/or small prizes. There is a note in your child’s folder about this event.

  • Class pictures (whole class) and remake photos (if your child did not get their photo made the first time) will be September 30th.

This year for our silent auction item I am working on a 'curl up with a good book' kid basket. If you can help out with this, Please send in a new book by Friday October 4th. I will also be adding some books that I have been purchasing all summer. Any book in the k-2nd age group would be great. Popular characters:

● Math: Recognizing numbers to 20, Writing numbers 15-18, Counting and Drawing to 20
● Phonics: Zz, Cc, Ee, Yy
● Social Studies: Community Helpers & Careers
● Homework: Letters on Behavior Chart, counting goals & Library Book
Notes:
● Your child brought home their new library book today. These will be due back next week on
your child’s assigned day (Please send the book back in the bag with the signed reading log).
If your child does not return their book on their assigned day they will not receive a sticker for
reading their book. They will still take their AR comprehension quiz and get a new book when
they do return the book. It is very important that these are being returned on schedule so your
child does not get behind.
● Counting goals and letter recognition have been updated on your child’s behavior chart.

● Grandparent’s breakfast will be tomorrow, September 18 from 7:45-8:15.
● We are studying careers this week. On Friday your child will dress up as the career that they
would like to have when they grow up. We do not expect you to go buy a new costume for
career day. Items you have at home are perfectly acceptable when creating your child’s
career costume. Please do not send any weapons if your child has selected to be a cop (i.e.
no toy guns, swords, etc.)
● Our Eagle football team will be facing Mayfield Friday night. Thursday and Friday we will be
celebrating spirit days. Thursday students are encouraged to wear their favorite team jersey
and Friday we are going to be wearing blue (this is also our career day so it may be hard to
find both).

  • Math: Recognizing numbers to 20, Writing numbers 10-14, Counting and Drawing to 20
  • Phonics: Rr, Kk, Bb, Uu
  • Social Studies: Symbols of the U.S., Pledge

  • Homework:  Number handwriting
Notes: 
  • Your child has a homework page in their folder.  They are to practice number handwriting. There is an example of each number.  I expect that your child is using a pencil to complete their handwriting. Please check their usage of the handwriting lines to ensure proper formation.  This is due back tomorrow morning.   

  • Counting goals and letter recognition have been updated on your child’s behavior chart. Please work on these nightly.  

  • New library books will be coming home today and tomorrow.  All of the books will be due back next Tuesday. Please make sure you are reading these several times as your child will have to answer questions when it is returned.

● Phonics: Mm, Ii, Ss, Ff
● Social Studies: Families
● Homework: Library Book
Notes:
● On the back of your child’s behavior chart you will notice the letters that we have learned in
class last week. I have marked whether your child can identify the letter and sound on the
back of their behavior chart. Please review these nightly. We will be adding four new letters
each week.
● You will also notice that your child has a counting goal at the bottom of their behavior chart.
There is a note in your child’s folder explaining counting goals and my expectations for them.
● Your child brought home their first library book . You will find a note in their folder about how
our book baggies will be done currently. If you have any questions please let me know. Your
child’s baggie is marked to be returned on either Monday or Tuesday. The first time you will
return these will be next week.
