CLUBS

100 club

Counting to 100 is an important standard in Kindergarten. Once students reach this goal they get to be in the 100 club. At the end of the nine weeks, I will give these students a special treat! Some students are near reaching this goal. On the bottom of your child’s behavior chart you will see a counting goal. I have found that sometimes students have trouble with knowing which ten comes next. Making them stop at the number they are forgetting is a great way to help them focus on that number. For example, if your child gets to 69 but doesn’t know what comes next, their goal is 70. They will stop at 70. Once your child reaches that counting goal I will give them a new goal.

Counting wizards

For students who have met the standard of counting to 100, they have a new goal. I want students to realize that numbers go on forever. I created the counting wizards club a few years ago and had great success with it.  These students will get counting goals above 100. Once we reach 200 and I am confident that students get the trend, they will become counting wizards.

Out of this world Alphabet Kings and Queens

Once students master the letter names and sounds of both capital and lowercase letters, they will join the Alphabet Kings and Queens club. Since knowing all the letter names and sounds makes them out of this world smart, they will earn galaxy slime!

Most importantly, we are learning one letter a day; students should be able to tell me those letters by both name and sound. If your child is struggling with the letter names or sounds, start with the ones we have covered in class first and work towards the rest. You can find the letters we have covered on the Monday note.
