Reading update:
Students took their comprehension test today. I let everyone
get a sticker because this was their first attempt. In the future, if students
do not pass the quiz, 60% or higher, they will not earn a sticker.
When reading the decodable books, if students do not score
80% or higher, they will not earn a sticker. Students should be reading both
books every night.
Sight words will continue to progress each week. There will
be at least five new words each week. It is very important they master these
each week to keep from falling behind.
Nightly homework should include: reading the decodable book,
reading the library book, practicing sight words!
All of these things greatly impact your child’s success in
Kindergarten!
Please keep the yellow reading log, and the two books in the
baggie at all times.
